“My kids and I visit Luck’s Field playground often. This past spring, I went through a rollerblading stage and would brave the dangers of crossing Fairmount Ave. on rollerblades with my 5 and 3 year olds on their bikes. Some days we would see Marjie skate dancing on what used to be tennis courts but what now serves as a great place for anyone in the neighborhood on wheels to play. The boys and I admired how she gracefully swayed and swooped to the music playing in her headphones, even skating backwards on her sparkly pink roller-skates. Thanks to Marjie I can now move my body in reverse on rollerblades, albeit very slowly. Something even greater Marjie has given me is a beautiful picture of strength, beauty and freedom. The way she sails around on those pink skates inspires me to be alive.”
